FACADE. MASK. oblivion.

ARRRGGHHh!! I suddenly hate the mask that I put on. Hey, I'll tell myself not bad. I really can disguise myself. I never liked opening up to people. I dont like relying on people; telling them that hey I need a listening ear. However, I like being the listening ear to others. I love it when I can tell how someone is feeling just by looking at her. I hope I am still apt at that. I love it when my friends rely on me. mad? me?

There once was a king, queen in the land of ablou. One day, the well was poisoned with chemical C. Anyone that drank it would become mad. Slowly, the people drank it one by one. It started to infect everyone. The king decreed to have all the best doctors to find out what was wrong, but they too drank that water. He ordered his soldiers to find out the cause of it and to no avail. Unknowingly, the soldiers got the disease too. The King came to a conclusion. His beloved people have gone mad and he tried all ways and means to keep them sane. The people then realised that the King was mad. They protested for his abdication. The Queen (always the smarter sex) found out the cause of it all. To solve the problem, the King and Queen drank the water from the well. On second thought, the people allowed the King to stay as they realised that he is sane now when everyone was actually insane. The King ruled with the smart Queen happily ever after.
Am I mad or not?

Even things that you never expect to hide behind the walls have things to keep. Today, I shall wash their dirty linen in public. If you have been an avid fan of nike, adidas and fila, I think you might be disappointed. When these companies can pay billions to advertise their brand on a soccer player, they pay their workers who are in SEA less than is expected. Lets say Nike. They pay their workers in US 30 times more in Asia. In Indonesia, they earn $2.46 a day. In Vietnam, they make $1.60 a day. In China, they make $1.75 a day. I think macdonalds pay more HOURLY. Hah. Adidas pays 2 euro a day. So the 11500 workers in Panarub factory earns 68 euros a month and have to depend on overtime to make ends meet. WOW. Fila pays 60 cents an hour. So what do they have in common, they abuse the workers in Asia. They get sexually abused, hurled with vulgarities and the conditions that they live in is worse than living in Singapore's zoo. I pay more than $100 and it cost the factories less than $5. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE REMIND ME HOW MUCH THESE COMPANIES PAY TO SPONSOR FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO ADVERTISE FOR THEM? Never expect that they have facades too right? If you dont believe me, check the net. All information I got was from FACTIVA (reliable online journals).

Yes. I am MAD. As a consumer, I have the power of buying. What should I do? People say that whatever we study in school has no link to our lives. I got this from learning about Economics. I love what I study. :]

Crossroads. Barricades. Traffic lights. Zebra crossing. Mud holes. Road construction.
OBSTRUCTION!
Can someone please enlighten me how I can encourage my dearest younger brother to study? Darn, he is smart but it stops at there. He is an obsessive computer user. Why do people have potential, don't see that they have?

I used to loathe this guy. He was in my primary school. He is an extremely fast runner. He broke the national record in SWIFT for his division in primary school. Gosh. Everyone was envious of his talent. Down the road, he stopped running and changed to soccer. I was like WHAT! Can you imagine, people who have the talent still dont harness it and just let it decay and rot. Now that I think back, I guess if I loathe him, then I must hate myself too.

I once remember someone saying that I should not put a glass ceiling on the goals that I set for myself. I got a c6 for my chinese o level, first attempt. I really did not want to retake it again. Almost all the teachers were against it( my chinese really that bad meh?) Anyway, then he comes and encourages me to retake. He used to be like me, suck at chinese but he chose to retake. He copied the whole chinese dictionary. MADDENING! Now that when he looks back, he feels proud of himself that at least he tried again and can smile at look at his results. He only got an A2. On the next day, he shared that we shouldn't limit ourselves. His analogy was quite interesting. Assumingly you want to aim for an A1 but at B4, you put a glass ceiling there. So you can stand at your grade which is c6 and look up at the A1 that you aim for. But when you work towards it, you feel that it is impossible so you are stuck at the glass ceiling at B4. You can continue to aim for A1 but all you can do is look at it because you limited your potential at B4. It's quite abstract but I love it. Somehow I knew he was referring to me. At least no one knows. Eventually, I didnt retake. I do kinda regret. On the day of my results for o level's...he told me I could make it to JC if I wanted to before results were out. (shuush!) I was over the moon. I know he will NEVER happen to read this. Perhaps one day... So what is failure to me?

What is failure according to the society's standard? Sadly, it has placed a stigma on people that those who do not match up to the qualifications that is expected of a job, you're a failure. Just recently, someone from class asked me what is my definition of meaning in life. To me it is to live to my fullest potential and to use the gifts that God has given to me. I dont think I have fully harnessed it, thats why I cannot loathe the runner. This classmate of mine said, it's terrible to retain and be in JC1 again. The someone above told me this again. If I have to retake then go for it. Because you will never know, this 1 year can change the 30 years that is to come. It is worth it.

I've got a real testimony. My teacher Mr K. His name is censored. He retook his A level's about 6 times. He got into the habit of smoking for some time that affected his results. He didnt pass his O level the first time either. He was considered the dregs of society. No one wanted to hire him. To put it simply, he was useless, a failure. Finally when he got good grades for his A's, he went abroad to study. The first thing when he came back, he received calls from credit card companies, asking him to sign up with them. Mind you, its not only 1 company. He got stellar grades in fact. He was highly sought after. From a loser as sweaty man will say, to a high-flyer. Is society's definition of success definite? Today, he is a teacher and my daddy. (hint) Moral of the story: Dont get drenched in the society's definition of success or failure. If you want to see who has lead a successful life, go to Heaven and you'll know.

YAY. Today, I went for IJC's parliamentary meeting. So fun. I really enjoyed it. I guess it would be much better if we were in an enclosed area or sitting closer to each other. A warmer and fuzzier feeling. A few jokers and me were saying that all Sagittarius members all will turn vegetarian because there is only a small majority that are vegetarians. Thus, they cant really commit one stall for them. Miss Lee for one will be extremely happy. We might have a chance of winning sports day. Veggie -- spinach makes you run fast!! Warped ideas. Suddenly, it reminds me of the legacy of v6. Let's bring that back. Whee...

Whee...Hwei Ting, Daniel, Randall, Jasmine and Kenneth....

One of the greatest bunch of peeps that the Lord has blessed me with

Then I reminded of the times when I get so frustrated when jobs were not done, teachers having their pms, students going all up and cranky. Just a few days back, our school did a through check on the general appearance of the students. Many people were complaining as always the case. Sporadic fits of laughter did break out at certain times. Sometimes when people laugh at things, I really wonder if they really take it as a joke or it is a laughter of cynicism. My point, whats so funny?

Following the next day, Miss Yeo checked the girl's skirts if they were acceptable by asking them to kneel down. This is not aimed at any SPECFIC people. My general thought is if you dont want to be humilated in this way(if thats how they feel), then dont break the rules. As simple as that. So dont complain when you break a school rule. In the first place, why break it? Is following the school rules really so difficult; not forgetting that IJ is giving us loads of leeway. I do break the school rules too and if there comes a time, I have to face the music, I shall willingly. Hah. Students complain blah blah but what is a school for? If one doesnt want to cut his hair, sorry, wrong institution. Republic Poly is on the other side. Pardon me. Hmm. Of course, are rules meant to be broken? YES. Thats why there is something called PUNISHMENT. Sharifah, can you let me paste your essay here?

I guess many people might hate Mr Ng SK too. But I really admire him sometimes, not always. ;) He does his job in discipline well enough and that would imply that many would hate him for doing so. Let me take a stand in his shoes, how easy is it for a person to continue teaching, knowing that you've got a bunch load of students cursing at you? Who likes to do the "bad person" and one who has been doing that in sec sch, definitely not. Kudos to you.

God, bless me with strength not to conform to the world. Time to grow up.

Yes, we may wear different clothes and speak
different languages and have different customs,
but we all fall in love,
all want someone to hold and hug,
to have a family, to be happyand successful, not to be afraid of the dark,
to live a long time, die a good death, to be attractive
and not to get fat, old or sick.
What does it matter if we wear a suit, a sari or a grass skirt
if deep down we all cry when we get hurt, laugh when we are joyful
and our stomachs rumble when we are hungry?
The veneer can be wiped away in a second and then
we are all the same, all quite lovely, and quite quite human.

Yesterday, one of my close friend opened herself up to me. Yay. This is to you..
Thank you for always being here for me, allowing us to go to your house and sleep; making a big mess. For all the times when you quarrelled with me when I was too stuck up to see any flaw in the plans I had. For reminding me that not everyone is the way I think they are. For enouraging me and protecting me although your bones are fragile ( no link. LOL ) For always being so bubbly even though you have lots of troubles. For listening to all of our problems and taking the burden as if it was yours. I've always wanted to know what was up with you. After reading what you said, I was like, "no way. you're great, to me that is." Whatever it is, no matter how long, I'll be here for you. I care for you ok! I still need you around. I bet the rest still do. Hippo will need you around. The main message: YOU are important to ME. So I take this time today, instead of studying to tell you that I really appreciate you. Sometimes I just dont know how to say it and I dont want to miss this chance today. I thank God for you. If you want to know if you make a difference, you did in my life. I know you'll be reading. I LOVE YOU! :)

Today, I went back to GM! yay! I met Miss Elizabeth Lim, Mr and Mrs Lian and Mr Kee. Enjoyed talking to them especially when I didnt go back for a long time. I decided to make a life size potrait for Miss Lim because from her office if she stands near the window, the classes on the ground floor. So when she stands up and gaze...students (observant ones) will SHOUT and get the class to quieten down. Stupidly, they say it so loudly that Miss Lim from her office can hear. I really dont know what SEC 1 kids are made of these days. Miss Lim...an extremely fierce VP but when you know her, its not so bad. HT can vouch for that yea. Arrrggghh. Can the holidays come quickly? I want to go and help Mr Lian with his prefects and PE capt camp. Jas, you're invited too. PROVIDED you can come. Whootss, I look forward to organizing it. It shall be very exciting. Anticipation!! Well, at least my brother will get to enjoy because he can use my stuff in the camp.

Almost daily, we eat sweets in class. BUT yesterday, we had a sweet bonza. SHERYL. Thank you for sharing with us your lovely sweets. I managed to get cream on her face and hair. Sadly, even after washing her hair, it still reeks of mango. How COOL. May was the smartest. She knew what I was going to do and she moved away at the right time. SMART. Lisa was not so fortunate. I cut her hair. I think I can cut well..paper that is. I can burn hair well. How about that? Today, I am so proud of myself. I got 40 upon 60 for my chinese composition. Almost a direct translation from english to chinese. Well, at least I wrote the essay in english before. I wanted to bring it back to show Huang Da Ma but then, by the time I reached. TOO LATE. Another day then. I really didnt expect myself to write well. LOL.

Nerf, this is for you. You and your innocent look. I added in a few good words for you. And guess what? She knows who you are. You even managed to talk to her over the phone, thanks to me. Hey, shouldn't you be grateful. Ok you can treat me when daniel treats hwei ting. Thats for sure at least, almost. It's really amazing, how I can get to know her when the carnival had at least a few hundred people. You need counselling. Love advice from me. I give you cheap cheap. 50% discount if you sign up now. Best in Singapore and JB, some say Batam. Hwei Ting and Daniel, Lisa and Eugene, Siva and Darsha -- you have 1 month trial free. Sorry, May not included. You can afford it. Besides you have keefe.

This was taken when I went to Melaka. My brother eating ice-cream. It looks disgusting right?
The pink and purple coloured ice cream is cotton candy flavour. The pink, yellow and white scoop of ice-cream is rainbow sherbet. On hindsight, I really dont know why I even dared to put it into my mouth.

Well, I learnt another important lesson in life again!! My father was supposed to go back to the hotel in Melaka to collect his jeans, be that he left behind when he lead a group there. However, when the hotel management found his jeans, the belt that was with it was gone. The belt was from Australia. But the person that stole the belt did not realise that there was something more valuable than the jean itself. The head of Security actually called it a black stone. It was a piece of jade. My dad is a fan of jade so yes, don't ask me why it's there. Seem like the finer things in life are not always things that glitter. Yes, the person that stole the belt was smart but a smarter move would be to take the jade and pawn it. It is worth at least twice the price. Remember, all that shine might not possibly be gold. Be smart.

Climb On Singapore!! It was quite fun to see all the handsome dudes with muscles attempting the routes at the rockclimbing carnival. The best about the carnival was that I made a new friend!! Adora from TPJC. This was how we met.
Apparently, when I walked to a route to check it out and I saw this girl smiling at me. I realised she looked quite familar. Thanks to Daniel. AHEM. She then introduced herself as Adora. oHHH!!! Well, she is in the same class as Daniel LIO!! I got her to call Daniel and Nerf. I found out that we some things in common like friends. She knows Adriel, Bao Zhen etc. We met before too at NISCC but the crowd was too large to recognise anyone. She loves rockclimbing!! Daniel, she is not in track and field. Your information is obviously outdated. Sorry, I spilt some of your secrets like you ran around in a skirt before. ooppsss. Yay. Although, I didnt really accumulate a lot of points for the carnival, at least I made a new friend. FUNKY! Nerf, you don't believe? Look here. Hey, I am faster than you. SLOWPOKE.

Today, I went to mug!! Yay. I am going to complete my maths and econs mid course revision booklet. First time I feel so satisfied with myself after studying in JC for so long. Well, then my next goal is to complete that vocabulary book that I have to buy for GP. Whootss.. so exciting. I hope the book comes in quick. Anyway, I studied with a hippo today. I found out that he has been reading my blog!!

GOSH!! All my secret admirers out there, please reveal yourself!! Don't go round secretly reading my blog and not leave a tag note. LOL!! Thank you.

So...I owe the hippo a 1000 word long blog entry. Here goes... (I hope it doesnt bore you)

Dear Hippo, this is a letter to you. I really do hope you will feel happier and comforted when you read this. This apparently is meant to lift your spirits up. Although I know you always bully me, not as bad as the bai ka (thats good), deep down I wanna thank you for being my friend. For walking halfway home with me( so loser!), for giving me the chance to be manly when you are suppose to PROTECT me( you know who I am referring to), for accompanying me to go mug( i think it is the other way round right? ). This next part is published for you. (Lisa, let me adopt your idea yea. Thanks!)

I love you the way I love my other friends especially those I mention.

This a lovely love letter to you which goes solely to you. Along the way, I disclose some of your dirty secrets. Especially TH. I hope you have a good laugh remembering all the crazy incidents. Darn, you really know how to torture me but well at least I dont have to blog about you in chinese. TH looks like you will win your swensen's treat.

What I want to tell you is that I love you and you dont have to let those other girls bully you. Cause only I can. The way they treat you and talk to you, definitely isn't really good. Why degrade yourself? I can't bear to see you going through so much again. Since you said that you've been numb to the way they talk to you, but I know deep inside you feel hurt. Can you please let me go and bash them up? But hey, I here to remind you that you have friends that love you too and you dont need them. I know you've been through a lot of heartaches and why go through them more? Seriously, I really think you will lead a better life without them. Come on, you're not like the happy guy I used to know. Take it in your stride. I believe you will one day find the girl who will love you like the way she loves a prince. Definitely not the way I love you or else you will go CRAZY. God has a plan for you and that is one of prosperity and hope. I am sure He has a life partner meant solely for you. Learn to trust in His timing and if it is not, leave it in His hands. Will the Lord who created the Heavens and Earth let a hippo like you have no wife? I don't know the answer myself for His thoughts are not my thoughts and neither are His ways my ways. But I know for sure He will take care of you and mend your heart. Like what WX will say, let your pocket rest ( when you always end up paying for them but never for me ). UNFAIR!!

But heck, I glad to have you as a friend and dont feel sad if no one loves you because I will and I am sure the others will too. If you are sad, then we will feel sad too. Surely you don't want me to age quickly because being sad will make me look older. Spare a thought for me, hippo. I still want to get a boyfriend one ok. Don't deprive me of my youth. We care for you or else why would we go through so much and accompany you through thick and thin ya?

Innova is definitely not a place for muggers. Randall, thats why you should come here. Don't listen to that Sim Lee. :)

Studying is definitely not my cup of tea. It is my cup of coffee. It keeps me awake in life. Studying allows you to keep your mind away from things you don't want to think about. Ironically, I have not been studying. I've been going to help at Singapore Youth For Christ in their rockclimbing activities as a facilitator. Boy! The kids are like crazy cows. Worse, the adults...I asked them how old I'd look like. The guesses came in at 20++. Do I really look that old? Then why is it when I want to rent M18 movies, they stop and check my ID. Darn!

I realise something too. When you are young, you tend to be more daring. These kids are all from primary schools yet they take up whatever challenge that I pose to them. Mind you, they are 12 years of age and below. Surprisingly, most of them do better than the secondary school programs. The same route and difficulty can be conquered by kids but not teenagers, bearing in mind that teens have developed muscles and a height advantage. Well..Hanging out with these kids and talking to them really makes me laugh. Their cute antics and faces hypnotizes me totally! The debrief was even more interesting. The questions that I asked them to think about and their answers from the kids were more matured than the teens. My observation from doing all the rockclimbing courses. Perhaps my readers (YOU) would like to think about it too...

Who is your belayer in life? Can he/she be trusted ALL the time?
Amazing isn't it, when you are climbing you dont seem to be able to see the available moves that you can take but your belayer can. You have no choice but to listen to your belayer because he can see much clearer than you can. You have to trust in him, hoping that it is the right move.
Can you rely on your belayer's advice fully? Do you trust him enough to know what is the correct move? Are you sure that your belayer will hold you when you fall?

Who will you choose to be your belayer to run this race of your life?

At least for this holidays, my life revolves around 3 things: mugging, rockclimbing and gospel sharing. I thank God for blessing me with talents. At least I don't have to time to think about things I don't wish to revel about. That's good. I'm so entrenched in activities that it doesn't boggle my mind. WHOOTS!

The one has the highest wins. DUH. However, from previous feedback, you queue an hour plus to get to do 1 climb. The extreme hard ones are 1000 over points which does not even have a single soul. Because...it is too hard. GOSH. I hope it is going to be fun. My studies.. ARRGGHHH

Kudos to the book Hwei Ting found!! Here's an excerpt.

Do not COVET your ideas.

Give away everything you know, and more will come back to you.

YOU will remember from school other students preventing you from seeing their answers by placgin their arm around thie exercise book or exam paper.

It is the same at work, people are secretive with ideas. 'Don't tell them that, they'll take credit for it.'

The problem with hoarding is you end up living off your reserves. Eventually you become stale.

IF you give away everything you have, you are left with nothing. This forces you to look, to be aware, to replenish.

Somehow the more you give away the more comes back to you.

Ideas are open knowledge. Don't claim knowledge.

They're not your ideas anwyay, they're someone else's. They are out there floating by on the ether.

You just have to put yourself in a frame of mind to pick them up.

Bathing off EastCoast

Today, 4 friends sat lying on the beach
Staring at the full round moon
Each swamped in their own thoughts
The floodgates of emotion burst open.

Far and wide we look
Hoping to find an answer
In desperation we find
To our despair, none.

I am sustained by powers not my own,
As on the tide of prayer
Another’s love can sway me toward
Some good that of myself I would not:
Powerful, hidden to me,
As the purpose which drives these great ships
forward
Parting the sea.

Yay! My holidays have started. For some, they'd be going to OBS. I do hope you guys will meet this instructer by the name of Kenny Leong. He's the coolest! A small built guy with an extreme sense of humour. I learnt never to judge a man by his size. He is ultra fit and does all the extreme sports like scaling mountains. CRAZY! I'll do that soon with Kenny Chen. (eh where are you?!) Oh man. I remember the time when I met him in National Camp. I was in Delta and it was taken care by the UG (Scouts). It is a camp where people from all 8 UG's come together and interact. It is something like an adventure camp only on a very large scale. It happens once in 2 years and it is a once in a lifetime exeperience. Let's see in Delta alone had 80 odd people. There were groups from Alpha to Hotel. 80 x 8 = 640. It was even featured in the newspapers! In Delta division we were sub divided into smaller groups. Dan Fu who is from Innova happened to be in the small group as me. What a small world!!

So so so glad that Sweaty Man, Mr Koh( self-proclaimed groovy dancer) and Mr Joseph Tan liked the present. My hard work is nothing compared to see them grinning. Boy, the pics were hilarious! I had one of Sweaty Man doing his favourite move -- he liked that the best. I had many of Mr Koh dancing moves which does not accomate to the title he proudly bestowed upon himself. Mr Tan and all his big smile pics. Okay. Call me biased. I didnt bother to do these for the other teachers. But they really bring joy to my days in Innova. Although sometimes they are really lame, its still funny all the same. The others, ah, THANKS. May, I do not look like him, even if I do, I am more handsome. I thought that when I come to a new school, I'll stop looking like some people. In GM, I look like Miss Sin or Mrs Lim Oi Leng. Even the graduates by looking at my picture at the Prefectorial Board share the same sentiments. In Innova, I look like the basketball teacher, Miss Chua and speak like Miss Lee MK. Glad these remarks die down. Somehow I dont get the resemblance. May, so do me a favour. Don't start another uproar.

Those were the days....and I shall go back to type my econs essay.

Happy Teacher's DAY!! Man, I miss all the GM teachers. Sorry peeps, wasn't able to go back to GM yesterday because I ended school at 11.30. I still met up with a few of you at least. Darius with his Paul Twohill hairstyle, Barry always clinging with Claire and Rachel, Stanley still as XL as ever, Zi Kang and Darren looking rounder, Kenneth with his super long fringe(something he was unable to do in sec school), Jason showing off his House of the Dead 4 shooting skill, Kevin still as hungry and me!! I do hope to see more of our f4-2 people though. We'll be going to the zoo during the Sept hols. Do join us!! Contact Barry.

YAY!! A big THANK YOU to everyone who help make Sagittarius so successful!!! We came in second!! Yesterday was the official ending to the interhouse competition. Although I do feel sore about being 4th in the Inter House dance, something in which I really think a lot of us put our efforts into, we managed to clinch second position still. 3 cheers for each of us. Perhaps life is just that. Things that won't go wrong will go wrong -- Murphy's Law. Well then, let's work harder and we shall come back as CHAMPIONS next year. Sweaty Man said he'll be waiting. We'll be back.

Today, v6 got together again without Randall and Jasmine (kinda). He is busy studying. Stayover at Hwei Ting's house!!! Jasmine, I do hope you learn your lesson eh! We had movie marathon. Kenneth just lost to China in Fifa on PS. Daniel is laughing like mad. Hwei Ting is mugging. I seriously wonder where her eyes are glued to. The television or the book. I wonder. Jasmine is fast asleep at home. And I am blogging here. We did have a heck of a fun time yesterday night when we chilled at Breeko followed by 2 hours of rotting at the National Library ( the wide space on the ground floor ). We did crazy things, shot crappy videos and played bridge violently. Aren't we forgetting that we are supposed to be studying for our promos? HT is in MJ, Nerf and Niao are in TPJ and me in IJ. Jasmine, don't sneer! Randall, we're glad you're not here. Kind of. Or else there would be no space on the floor for all of us to sleep. :)
